New Orleans Bourbon Street Steaks & Oysters, Bonifacio High Streetready for just about anything
"while often overlooked versus sister restaurant clawdaddy in boni high street, new orleans provides ..."
while often overlooked versus sister restaurant clawdaddy in boni high street, new orleans provides american food that you can share with a family at noon, a date during dinner, or over beers with your barkada, with each time providing a different vibe.
while i noticed as well that the menu has been trimmed, but still extensive - you certainly aren't boxed in with its current menu. i don't normally eat oysters to be on the safe side, and it's a shame that a previous reviewer had a bad experience. but lots of entrees are still topnotch, served quite fast, and with ample sidings. the jambalaya is worth tucking into, and the wings are spicy without being too overpowering; fish and chips are crisp and fresh, and the portions, of course, are meant for good sharing- no one should leave wanting for more.
barbecue ribs, though, are about the boiling and marinating (i mean, barbecue sauces aren't really much different), and here they have opportunities- the sauce hasn't seeped into the meat completely. their 'dirty rice' also, could be improved, and their complementary breads seemed to have shrunk a bit (ookay, much).
service is still fast, efficient, and warm; much effort is made to explain dishes and the staff inquire on your opinion of the dining.
come in at different hours of the day, and you'll feel a difference in the vibe, from homestyle comfort to dateplace warmth, to nightspot chic. but what remains constant is the service and pretty good food that will make you come back- and maybe at a different time. recommended.

We had breakfast there this morning. Service was bad from the start. Getting a menu, having our order taken - took a long time. Our pancakes came after 30 minutes. The pancakes were nothing great, quite dry in fact. I used to love their pancakes - but not anymore. Not going back there.

We all loved the food. There is something about the simplicity of the flavors that made the food quite extraordinary. The fried chicken was lightly seasoned and cooked perfectly.

O'sonho Portuguese Fusion Restobar, Eastwood MallOverload on Salt & Grease

The Peri Peri Chicken is definitely a good portion of well grilled chicken. However, if you want to take care of yourself and remain alive, don't eat the herbed rice that comes with it. The amount of salt put into the rice is way more than the chicken itself and tastes like someone rolled the rice in rock salt before cooking.
The bacalhao pasta was an interesting idea. And it was an interesting execution. Never did I know that salted fish could taste malansa. This resto certainly opened my eyes in suprise.
Finally the portuguese sausage sisig. Another interesting idea and really as sisig not too bad, maybe a touch over greasy. But where was the taste of the sausage?
It was my first time there, it was my last time there. And another "fusion" wannabe proves yet again why honest, straightforward food is far better than misguided attempts at nouvelle cuisine.

Yakimix, Tomas MoratoA buffet and grill-all-you-can
"What makes Yakimix different from other pig-out places is that you can "cook" your own food (though ..."
What makes Yakimix different from other pig-out places is that you can "cook" your own food (though there are some fully cooked dishes as well). Just select some prepared meat from the food stations and bring it all back to your own table where in the middle lies a griller. Cook to your desired done-ness. It's mostly pretty good and because of the effort you put into cooking your own food, it adds a sense of worth to what you're eating.
They offer the usual meats of chicken, beef, pork, fish and seafood, all in various marinades just waiting to be put on the rack. They also have skewers, rolls and wraps that are pretty tasty too. They even have hotdogs for the kids! Everything comes out nice and tender. Delicious.
There's also a variety of soups and sukiyaki along with a little salad bar, just to mention it. The cooked dishes are good too and it's all worth trying.
There is a healthy selection of sushi and maki. They do tend to be a bit dry though. Servings are small, but that may be a good thing. It's always best to try everything you can and Yakimix is all about the grilled food anyway.
The desserts, however, are less to be desired. It will probably pass the taste buds of most but it's not their specialty. I suppose it's how they save money by using less flavorfully inspired and quality items.
The desserts they offer is a mix of mini gulaman-cream cakes (I did not say cheesecakes because they are NOT so), chocolate and marble brownies, flans, stuff-filled chocolates (rice crispies, chocolate bits, etc), supplied cakes (Goldilocks, Red Ribbon, etc.), ice cream (ie. Selecta 3-in-1+1), popsicles, and a bunch of other things. Honestly, I'd just go with a slice of cake from Red Ribbon and a scoop of ice cream topped with sprinkles. At least those are tried and tested hits that'll leave an even better note on leaving.
The service staff may at times be inattentive and slow to respond but are otherwise quite accommodating. The ambiance is pleasant enough with a right amount of yellow light to make the food look even more appetizing. There's also a more enjoyable private area but you might have to make a reservation to dine there.
For the price, as with any all-you-can-eat restaurants, it's as good as how well you can stuff yourself. Standard price is 580 per person, excluding drinks that cost around 65.

I ordered Prawn and Chili Tagliatelle. They gave me spaghetti with 2 pieces of shrimps. I belatedly realize this so I didn't complain and if you are not too familiar with the diff pasta noodles, you would have missed this. But then, the resto should have been responsible and honest enough to say what is available versus not. As for the portion/taste, it is quite small for the price and taste like Capricciosa.
Pizza Funghi is just average - not something that you will roll over with happiness.
I don't think the service is any good as well. My pet peeve is servers ignoring you for water refill. They only got to me once despite repeatedly asking for refill.
Banapple Pies and Cheesecakes, Tomas MoratoGood but A Bit Disappointed!
"My partner and I were soo lookin' forward to have a taste of banapple's food, and there we are. We o..."
My partner and I were soo lookin' forward to have a taste of banapple's food, and there we are. We ordered for a Lasagna Roll-ups, which i happened to notice as one of their bestseller, a Garlic Beef Tapa with Creamed Parsley Eggs, an Herbed Chicken Rolls with Basil Cream Sauce, a Homebrewed Iced Tea, and The Famous Banoffee Pie.
The place was too small for a kind of restaurant that people from different places visit, so the place was packed with patrons who were eating and waiting. We were among those people who've waited. The GOOD THING though is that they do have a system and enough chairs for those who are waiting to be seated. Yo can also pre-order so as not to waste time waiting.
After we're seated, we are at once served with our drinks. The servers were approachable and attentive to the needs of their customers despite the large crowd.
With regards to the food, it was not something exceptional. The Lasagna Roll-ups were good. It was meaty and saucy, and even the bread served on the side matched well the pasta. The Herbed Chicken is good at the first few bites but after a while the herb lingers to much on the palate and loses the essence of the chicken rolls, but it was generally okay considering the tenderness of the chicken and the tastefulness of the sauce. However, I was VERY disappointed with the Garlic Beef Tapa! The Tapa was "SOBRANG LANSA" and it seems that it wasn't really cow's meat... if i am not mistaken it was a CARA-BEEF. i've eaten cara-beefs before but not like this. It was really disgusting. The creamy egg was less disappointing coz it only lacks a bit saltiness on it. The Banoffe Pie was very ordinary. Among the other pies and cakes we chose this one coz we've heard that it was the restos specialty but I guess it's not. There are other pies more delectable than this pie.
In general, I could still recommend this place because their products are worth the price. They have big servings, good foods (you just have to choose well), and good servers!
Happy eating!

We've been here couple of times.
Nothing unique with the cakes and those that we tasted are dry, not the yummy cakes that are moist and soft.
Place is clean but small.
Service is slow, with only one staff to assist pick-up orders and walk-ins.
Price is higher than others.

The first time I tried this was at their branch in Angeles City and used to drive up from Manila only to eat there. Later I found out that a branch exists in Manila and since then I go there.
The food taste, ingredients and preparation is just awesome. I love Chinese food and am the biggest critic also cos I love it so much. But this place gets 5 out of 5.
Just love it!
Service can be improved by just smiling a little bit more :)
Chicken Charlie, Quezon CityChicken Charlie CRUNCH
"Whenever there is a new restaurant sprouting in Banawe area, you can be sure that it will be caught ..."
Whenever there is a new restaurant sprouting in Banawe area, you can be sure that it will be caught by DH's eagle eye. He made sure that we will dine in Chicken Charlie once it's construction is finished.
And so last Saturday, after having lunch at the newly opened Icebergs, we went to Chicken Charlie for dinner.
I told you that pictures enticed us to order a lot and so once I saw its picture on the menu board, I ordered it. But was disappointed to find few bits of chicken and more crumbs than I can eat in my life. Ok that's an exaggeration but you do get my point, right? So, if I were you, I wouldn't order it, just save the money for the wings or drumstick combo!
Ah, their claim to fame! Perfectly Non- Greasy with Soul- Satisfying Crunch! We were made to wait for a few minutes but the taste was definitely worth it! I am not sure abut the grease though lol But the crunch, I can assure you that definitely it's crunchy! More than Max's! lol There is a choice of soy garlic sauce or hot sweet sauce. I like the hot sweet sauce better. The soy garlic sauce reminds me of Tasty's pork chop rice sauce lol
The price is a bit steep but it's sure worth a visit to try something different!
