I first got to try Abe because of an office team dinner. We were looking for a Filipino restaurant to bring our Singaporean guests to so we chose Abe.

First of all, if you want to make sure you'll have a table it's very important to RESERVE. Seriously, I don't think this restaurant runs out of customers during peak hours.

In terms of ambiance I'd have to agree with a lot of the other reviews that the restaurant doesn't have very good acoustics. It can get pretty noisy when there's a lot of people and the acoustics of the resto make it worse. Their function room also seems like dead zone for mobile phones.

Service isn't consistent but overall my experience has been pretty good. Their servers are really friendly and serving time is actually excellent.

    Time for the food discussion.

Spicy Sisig Pampanga - Nothing extraordinary. You can find other cheaper places that serve better. And it wasn't spicy at all, actually.
Kinilaw na Tanigue - Pretty good. But I don't think you can really go wrong with kinilaw that much.
Betute - Now, if you're feeling a bit adventurous this is something you should try. It's stuffed frog and they really serve it as a whole frog without the head so some people might be turned off. But I really liked it. It's not "malansa" but was a bit oily, but still very good.

Sinigang na Bangus Belly with Ripe Guava - One of my favorite dishes in Abe. Not for everyone because the guava makes the soup sweet.
Mutton Adobo with Popped Garlic - It was good, but not a favorite. It was too oily for my taste.
Humba - So-so. Nothing special. You can get better from a turo-turo canteen.
Binukadkad na Pla Pla - Very interesting presentation. Well cooked and was not "malansa". It's nothing special, actually, it's pretty much just fried fish presented very well.
Gising gising - My second favorite dish in Abe. It's a really simple dish, but, man, does it taste so good. Not really spicy, though, but maybe you can ask for more chili if you want it to be really spicy.
Biringhe Agustin Goy - I loved this. It was the first time I tried biringhe so I don't have anything else to compare it to. It tastes like savory suman.
Crispy Tadyang - Good, but nothing special.
Pastel de Lengua - I love lengua and this dish is pretty good, but, again, nothing special.

Sikreto ni Maria - A dessert you should try. It was a hit during our team dinner. It's actually just suman, mangoes, vanilla ice cream, drenched in coconut milk. Love it.

    Good pasta, but kinda pricey
    PastaRoni, Taguig

Their place is really small, with only 3 tables inside and maybe around 4-6 tables outside. Size aside, if you get to sit inside the store it's actually pretty good. You can help yourself to as much water and condiments as you want (chili flakes, chili oil, croutons, etc).

They claim that they serve healthy food and that all the packaging they use are environment-friendly. They serve all their food in good quality paper boxes and brown paper bags to pack. Their utensils are plastic but they're the biodegradable kind. Honestly, I think part of the reason why their food is kinda pricey is because of the packaging. But, for me, it's all good since it's better for the environment.

And now for the food! So far I've only tried 2 dishes from them. First was the Italian meatloaf rice meal and second was the salmon linguine.

The meatloaf was just okay. It was dry and I would've liked to have more sauce with it, but it wasn't bad. The salmon linguine was pretty good. Their pasta is cooked just right (al dente) and their white sauce tastes pretty good for something that's supposed to be healthy. I love smoked salmon so you'll get no negative comments from me on that part.

What I like about their food overall is that it's freshly made and cooked just after you order it.

Downside is that all of their items are pretty pricey.

After all these years I still love Mexicali. Been eating here (as in this specific branch) since I was in elementary (and now I've already been working for 3 years!). It's the first place I think of when I crave for a burrito or an enchilada.

My favorites on their menu are the BBQ pork burrito, grilled shrimp burrito, chicken enchilada, cheese & garlic quesadilla, grilled shrimp quesadilla, and chili con carne.

    Second Chances

I've eaten at Eat Well twice already, which is a low count considering it's in the same building where I work.

My first visit was during their first soft opening day. There were only a few people seated when we went in and the servers were very accommodating. They apologized in advanced and said they were just on soft opening. They suggested some dishes we could order that can be served faster, which were the rice toppings. We ordered a crispy pork rice, hakao, sweet & sour pork, and their yang chow fried rice. The crispy pork rice was served after a while and the hakao within a reasonable amount of time. But the sweet & sour pork and yang chow fried rice took forever to get to our table. They also got our drinks wrong. One waiter said that they were out of mango juice so we ordered something else instead. But a while later mango juice was served. It was very confusing and very annoying. One of the owners kept apologizing and talking to us about how their kitchen works to explain why it was taking so long.

My annoyance at the whole situation subsided when the food arrived and I finally got to eat. Their hakao is the best I've had so far. The dumplings aren't big but they're filled with real shrimps and not extenders or fillers. The wrapping was not too thin nor too thick either. The pork in the sweet & sour was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, just the way I like it. The sauce was a good balance of sweet and sour. Their yang chow fried rice is very good too. The rice wasn't dry nor too mushy. Overall the food was excellent.

On my second visit my friend and I ordered the steamed pork and shrimp dumpling (siomai), sliced beef with broccoli in oyster sauce, and a cup of jasmine rice each. For dessert we had the masachi with chocolate. Everything was just delicious! The siomai was bigger than the usual siomai you'd get. You can see that it had real shrimp and it didn't taste like cheap siomai you'd get in some "Chinese" restaurants. The beef with broccoli was big enough to serve 2-3 people, in our opinion, and had a good amount of beef and broccoli. It was kind of oily, though, but not that off-putting. The best ending to a meal is a wonderful dessert, which the masachi with chocolate is perfect for. It took quite a while for it to be served but when we each put one whole masachi in our mouths we realized why. It was very hot inside! The masachi balls are stuffed with melted white chocolate and smothered in crushed nuts. It is served fresh from the oven so you should be careful in eating it. We burned our tongues by eating them whole. Haha.

The service was also so much better during my second visit. They served us free hot tea, got our orders right, they came back immediately when we ordered something that wasn't available anymore. Very stellar service, if I may say so.

Their place is a bit small, though. They tried to fit as many tables into the first floor as comfortably as they could. There's also a second floor, which I've never been to. But all in all the place is comfortable, but can get a bit noisy during peak hours.

    Coming back for more

I had the chance to try La Maison for the first time because of a friend's birthday celebration. I arrived late so I didn't know what they ordered specifically.

I remember eating the steak (I'm sorry, I don't know which one!) and thinking that it's so tender even when it wasn't hot anymore. It was not dry either and still had lots of flavor. I love steak, so I'll definitely be going back to try their other steaks.

I also remember the ribs, which I also liked but probably with not as much impact. I found the pasta bland, though, but at least it wasn't dry.

Dishes are bit pricey, though, but are worth it. I will definitely have to go back there soon with my family.

I learned about Omakase from my bf and his friends. They brought me to this hidden wonder in Libis one time to celebrate a certain occasion, which I fail to recall right now. I loved my first visit and definitely went back.

The restaurant is pretty clean despite the number of people that come and go everyday. Personnel are accommodating and friendly, though sometimes not as effective on days that have a lot of demanding customers.

Food quality is really good for the price that they charge. My personal favorites are the Spicy Tuna salad and American Dream. Their other fuzion rolls are worth trying, too. I haven't tried one that I didn't like.

I love Amber's spaghetti, pork bbq, and pichi-pichi. They have generous servings at very affordable prices. Ingredients aren't skimped on and dishes are flavorful.

They have good delivery service and nice, friendly personnel.

Their food is ideal for parties. Most of our office "kainans" have food ordered from Amber. We're all satisfied customers.
