Such as diappointment. Never again

This place gives home-cooking a bad name. Please this is not how we eat in Negros. I have tasted much better than this place when it comes to mongo and their kadyos. Definitely more more hype than substance. I never went back to this restaurant again. I enjoyed their juices though.

Cafe Bola

2

We recently went to Cafe Bola and the food was really disappointing. We ordered Adobo Flakes and Corned Beef. We knew that the corned beef came straight out of the can and not only that, it was so few, that it's like we're only eating rice with egg! The Adobo Flakes on the other hand was not crunchy at all and it tasted like they just reheated the whole thing. Not going back there for sure.

Divine dips!

Cafe Bola's Spicy Bangus Mousse and Banana Heart with Keso de Bola Dip were divine. Being a fan of Cibo's starter dips (the Spinach one is my favorite like everyone else), having these Filipino versions was a treat!

The Perfect Flan

Soft, creamy, and just the right speck of sweetness--that's Café Bola's Bola Flan. I'm not a fan of sweets, but this one's really divine. It's so addictive, that the first time I've tried it over dinner, I ordered it again right the following day as my dessert for lunch! It's really a must try!

Yummy

My favorite dish is Adobo Flakes rice with Kesong Puti. Their pasta is also good. Served in a large bowl and very filling. Price is reasonble. However, I don't like the service because sometimes, even though there are few customers, the waiters take too long to bring our orders and bill.

The chorizo and quezo de bola pasta is a must-try

My mother and I had dinner at Cafe Bola. It was already 11:30 pm when we came in and they had exactly 6 customers. Good. Mas mabilis service. Anyway, the food is consistently good. I remember having the bangus mousse with pan de sal rounds, pasta with dulong and kesong puti, and cassava chips with garlic mayo a few months ago. Yummy! I loved the bangus mousse. It's unique. Couldn't find it anywhere else.

Last night, I had penne with chorizo and queso de bola cream. It's uber-creamy and cheesy but far from cloying. Love it, especially the subtle chorizo flavour. Gaita Fores is a genius. I'll definitely order it again next time I drop by at Bola. (I'm wondering if I can duplicate the recipe at home.) My mother had pan de sal rounds with puso ng saging dip (yet another interesting choice of ingredient).

The iced tea's great -- strong, freshly brewed tea with a hint of tanglad and pandan flavors. The hot tea infusion reminds me of liquified Halls honey-lemon candy (and I mean that in a good way). Biting but pleasantly spicy-sweetish.
