worth the trip from USA

4

Fantastic restaurant with great ambiance. Met up with my wife's relatives from Imus, Cavite the night before departure for the States. Ordered bistek Tagalog, pinakbet, lapu-lapu, miso soup and halo halo for desert. It was a party of 5 and the portions served us well. The fried lapu-lapu was presented elegantly! The entrees were done well and tasted great. Definitely will come back in my next visit to Manila.

Magic Word - Bagnet

3

Cafe Juanita may it be in Pasig or Taguig is a place of pilgrimage for good food. Last time I was there the things I tried were : (1) Sole with Lemon Butter Sauce - The Sole, superb texture but PLUS the butter sauce... heaven... It may just convert a fish-snub to a fish-fan. (2) Bagnet Salad - the great excuse... "I ate salad..." LOL but this salad is all BAGNET and tomatoes. I really enjoyed it and even endured my itching lips - I have bagoong allergy. The bagnet is soft enough you won't have to get it stuck between your teeth to chomp some off. (3) Kare-Kare - one of the better kare-kares in the metro I must say. Though of course nothing beats my Lola's cooking. (4) Japanese Tofu - I forgot the name of the dish but I am not a fan of tofu before but this made me want to try tofu again - Japanese tofu. It was like creme brulee texture, impossibly firm yet melts in your mouth...

I suggest you call to reserve a seat as seating is quite limited especially on the weekend and if you have a big party. You will have to walk a little if you are visiting the Taguig Branch as no parking is allowed in the immediate Burgos Circle. They accept credit cards.
