Great dim sum, kickass hot pot

3

Dim Sum section:

Long wait before service. Place is not understaffed but the staff do a great job of appearing invisible. Big source of frustration, almost left the place because of that. When they did appear, they look hurried and harrased. Maybe management should hire more staff.

Food preparation did not take long and the food was daaaaamn good. Ordered 2 dim sums (pork ribs and chicken feet) and they were both delicious. Not many restaurants, not just in manila but in other places, can do chicken feet right. This one was spot on. Tender meat on soft bones bathed in good sauce. Ribs were done well with a good sauce to back up the soft meat.
Main course was yang chow fried rice, minced pork with beans and pork belly & intestines noodle soup. Fried rice as good any any restaurant..beans with minced pork was outstanding with the beans just done right in harmony with the minced pork and seasonings. Noodle soup needed additional salt and hot sauce but overall a good dish.

Hot Pot:

Gloria Maris. Hot Pot. Enough said. No service issues (on the contrary, a nice waitress even offered to peel the shrimps for us). Just go and have a great hot pot session with friends or family. For beginners, the essence of eating hot pot is the sauce that you have to compose from the different sauce components (soybean sauce, prawn sauce, chilli/garlic sauce, fresh garlic, chilli and spring onions plus soya sauce) they put before you because you dip the cooked foodstuff (which is pretty bland) in it before you eat it. Good sauce, good hot pot. Bad sauce...you get the drift. We ordered the assortment for two and did not stop hot-poting till the table was clean. Wash it down with a beer of choice and your evening is made.

Will go to hot pot again but the dim sum area, not too sure. Haven't the fine dining section but will choose the hot pot area over others anytime.

check this out

Credit cards can be used for orders more than 300 pesos.

New and poorly trained waiters.
Sometimes the wanton is rancid but they will replace if you complain.

Before you pay, make sure charges are computed correctly.

In the fine dining section the final bill for a lauriat should be computed correctly and checked if paying with cash.

The noodle casual dining is now called the green maris. If your wanton tasted rancid or spoiled, you can ask for a replacement.

Greasy

1

Since there’s no private entry for Gloria Maris’ branch in The Podium here in Munch Punch, I placed its review with the motherland of all Gloria Maris’ restos.

Inconspicuously tucked away in a corner of The Podium mall, this greasy little Chinese resto serves up all the authentic oriental cuisines that other Gloria Maris’ branches offer. Compared to the other lavishly furnished establishments surrounding it, Gloria Maris in the Podium sets itself apart by being the only dilapidated and unsanitary restaurant in the mall. I’m not kidding. It’s a bit gross and unhealthy, but I guess that’s as authentically Chinese as you can get.

Service is ok I guess if you put it up against Gloria Maris in Greenhills, but cleanliness surely is a big ouch factor. We were feeling under the weather today so we ‘tried’ to play safe by just chomping on a bowl of congee. For some reason, congee this time didn’t feel as heart-warming as I’m used to. In fact, my stomach felt a bit funny after the meal. In addition, several flies kept buzzing around my table, bugging me through out my stay.

Very poor service

Just ate there with my family last sunday. The service is really VERY bad and the food is ordinary compare to their expensive price. NOT WORTH IT.

Poor Customer Service

1

I called to reserve a table and apparently they reserve tables only at certain times and for certain food area which is quite annoying. I spoke to 4 servers over the phone and they make it so difficult for potential customers that in the end you just do not want to even go there. If you have never eaten at Gloria Maris, there are different dining 'halls' or areas that cater to different customers - Fining Dining, Dimsum or Hotpot. Make sure you know what to order before you go there so you can eat the right food. Good reasonable food, but very poor service (if you even have minus a star - I'd put them there for service).
