Isshin is your standard "hibachi/teppanyaki" service... nothing extraordinaire on the "cooking demo" compared to other places... their service is good, their sashimis are great.. it's an okay restaurant... still good.

Real Authentic!

I'm a real food lover, and one of my favorite cuisines is Japanese. I also have a reputation of recommending great places to eat for all my friends, colleagues & family.

Today, I must say, I am proud to have proven my recommendations right.

My colleagues and I had our "lunch break" at Isshin Japanese Restaurant along Arnaiz Avenue. Its my 1st time there, though I have heard nothing but great reviews about this place.

My first impression, when I first entered the establishment, was it was quite rustic. Not really dirty, but it gives off a feel of REAL restaurants in Japan. We were seated in the area where there were very low tables (just like in Japan). The interiors leave much to be desired, but we weren't there for the interior decorations.

I ordered the Salmon & Cheese Maki and Tempura Ramen, while my friends ordered a Tempura Bento, Isshin Special Ramen, Ebi Maki, Gyudon and Natto.

I must say that the Salmon & Cheese Maki was... (sigh!) SUPERB!!! I've had my fill of Sushi elsewhere (i.e. Omakase), but this one... Heaven! One order (about 8 pcs.) is enough to fill you.

The Tempura Ramen was good as well, but I would've gone for the Isshin Special Ramen. The latter's soupbase was tastier and had more "toppings."

The Gyudon was also good. It was not swimming in fats or oil. It was just the right consistency, but the serving was huge! If you're a light eater, like my friend, one serving would be good for 2.

When we got our bill, which amounted to P1425 (with Service Charge & VAT), we were also offered Complimentary Dessert (1 scoop Ice Cream or a bowl of Nata de Coco). Apparently, desserts are part of the Meal!!! What great service!

All of my friends who came with me to Isshin, were all praises for the food & the value for money. If you're looking for unadulterated, authentic Japanese Food, Isshin is the place to go! And what's more?!? They're open 24 hours a day, and they deliver up to 10pm (Makati Area)!!!

A must for all Japanese Food lovers!
