We've been eating at Mingoy's since it was a Magnolia ice cream house in Magallanes, and as far back as I can remember we have ordered the same food:

    Sopa de Mariscos
    Paella Espanola
    Salpicado
    Lapu-lapu Monk

Many graduation dinners and birthday celebrations later, these same dishes continue to satisfy me completely. The seafood soup is creamy, unlike the soup of the same name at Mario's. The paella is less wet than the same dish at Gaudi. The beef has more garlic than at Conti's. All these differences make it worthwhile for us to go back and enjoy the food at Mingoy's even as we try those other, currently more fashionable, places. I point this out because fewer and fewer people seem to be going to Mingoy's. We need to support the restaurants that we remember from our youth! Otherwise, they will all go the way of Di' Marks (Greenbelt) . . . .
