had lunch with friends 06/19, the second time in a month. food was great, the tiger prawn salad we fell in love with the first time is still a winner. the shrimp cheese wanton popper is really so yummy i could finish a whole order - all six pieces of them. we also had the giant squid steak and although it was somehow bland for my taste, it was amazingly tender - and the sheer size of it was awesome. one friend ordered the torpedo furai shrimp and i was thinking to myself what a bad choice - i had the impresson it was all coating with just the tiniest bits of shrimp in the inside. i was right about the coating, but yupee- the amount of shrimp was not disappointing at all, and it was tasty. kids will love this. for dessert we thought there weren't too many choices so we ended up not ordering anything, in fact one friend said (a bit loudly for everyone to hear) we did not like what we had the first time, the fried banana, since it was overly sweet. and it was funny - right after she said that, one attendant with (the same) fried banana in ice cream came rushing to say they have a complimentary dessert for us, haha. all the people out there were really friendly and warm, and very efficient. the experience was very pleasant just like the first visit, and that just firmed our resolve to keep coming back to this place. hmmm. now that i'm writing about it, i just realized that about 80% of our order was shrimp. well, no regrets.

my friends and I had a sort of semi reunion in serendra..since we knew we were going to be a little bit animated with fun and laughter..we looked for a place that was fit for our mod

we decided to eat at Polu Kai Grll

we had the happytizer (their sampler appetizer)...the squid steak (can you imagine a squid the size of a basset hound - what the owner and manager said) and the country style ribs (simple grilled slab of pork) and the baby back ribs and also the asian chicken salad..

we really didnt expect much from this restaurant....but boy were we really surprised and pleased...the food was good and plentiful....the service was great...the place was fun and unassuming......highly recommended....good food!

the pricelooks steep but when you get your odrders...youll be really pleased....HUGE and Plentiful.....

come and visit...you just might be surprised

We decided to celebrate our son’s 1st birthday at Polu Kai Grill last March to give life to a Surfer/Hawaiian themed party. We never had a prior taste test and just selected food from the menu. From the reservations up to the date of our event, the staffs headed by Rommel, have been very accommodating. During the party, the owner was even there to ensure we get the best service. And we did! As for the food… Excellent! We got salad with tiger prawns, Hawaiian pork spareribs (a real must try!) shrimp scampi pasta (will surely get this again!), chicken kebab and pineapple fried rice. A lot of our guests commended on the food served and how friendly the waiters/waitresses were. Great value for our money! Our party was a big success and we just want to share our good experience on the food and service of Polu Kai Grill.

Dont go here if you plan on having good hawaiian food. They basically put pineapple and call it hawaiian. They do have good kebabs though it may not be hawaiian they do put pineapples under it. there service is also mediocre. I expected alot more for something in that area.

I am actually shocked by the reviews posted before me, for I have dined here numerous times and have always had very happy and courteous staff attend to me. Perhaps I was just lucky.

The food, however, is very good. I can't say much for the rest of the menu for I have only tried a couple of items and keep going back for more. Crabby shrimp and Wanton poppers are extremely CRAVE-able. You will get hooked right away! Aku poki is not bad either, though I would do with smaller chunks of the tuna. A friend of mine once tried the steak, though I think it is overpriced for something of that caliber.

    Not Much for Customer Service

I'd have to agree with the earlier review about Polu Kai's customer service. The person standing by the menu outside the restaurant was not even pleased to see us looking over the menu and did not offer any assistance at all.

When we decided to eat there (because there was really no choice as all the other restaurants were full), the waiters and waitress couldn't have been more unhappy to take our orders and requests (I had a toddler with me and had to require a lot of tissues, water, and a high chair). The high chair i asked for took a while before they produced it and I had to ask for it twice.

The food was served fast enough (which was good because had it been otherwise, the restaurant would've sucked big time) and it tasted great. The place also looked the part (it's a Hawaiian restaurant that had aptly looking designs).

But the thing is, for me and maybe for a lot of people, we eat at places we know that will serve our needs happily and willingly. It's part of the eating experience, right? But if you're going to eat at a place like this where the servers don't live up to the name, then it's not worth it.

went to polu kai wednesday last week. there was no one to greet us at the door. and when we managed to catch the attention of one of the hustling waiters, he nonchalantly said there were no more tables. so much for customer service.

we're going to set up a reservation this christmas eve (if they're even open). until then, my rating is n/a.
