Café Adriatico, Malate

1790 M. Adriatico St., Remedios Circle, Malate

Manila, Metro Manila

(02) 523-7924

Café Adriatico, the original café that started it all. It offers classic Filipino and International dishes for lunch, dinner and afternoon-to-midnight snacking. Try their leaner version of Spanish-influenced local fare such as callos (tripe and chick peas in tomatto sauce) and lengua estofada (ox tongue) in mushroom sauce.

The food is excellent, so is the service and the ambiance is unsurpassed. I have eaten there at many times of the day, many different dishes, and different wines; never been disappointed. The Hainanese Chicken is superb, the Spanish dished are hard to find in Spain in that Quality and the chocolate Fondue is the crowning.

I've only been here once with my friends. I don't think i will bother coming back. Tried the Cafe Adriatico steak and it was simply lousy. We also ordered the lengua and sinigang na bangus that are also forgettable. I don't understand why the reviews i read on this restaurant were so great.

went here on dec 25 with dennis and family.

after hearing from different people about how good the food is, and after hearing so much about the LJC (larry j cruz) food group -- my experience here turns out to be a big disappointment.

the signboard on the 2nd floor says "No Cigars Please". i wonder if they didn't mean 'smoking' in general. one thing i hate the most is when i'm eating and i can smell someobody else's smoke.

the time it took to cook our orders is DEFINITELY NOT WORTH THE WAIT.

    we had:

seafood fetuccini - too bland. nothing special about it.
sausage - what's so difficult about slicing imported sausage and sauteing it.
chicken ala kiev - just blah
fish and chips - turns out to be fish and potato wedges. the fish is just bland.
