there have been subtle changes already when management changed but amici still offers good italian fair and the gelato is just divine.

the place could use a makeover though. it's too cafeteria-esque. and parking... hay.

Amici has a wide choice of affordable italian dishes from stuzzichino to affogato. The ambiance could improve though.

Selection has been reduced since the new owners have taken over but the menu is still good. It has lost some its personal touch and home cooked feel for a more standard and out of the box experience but certainly is still worth going to. Their gelato is still great!

My friends and I had around six different plates of pastas when we dined there: carbonara, with seafood, with spinach, with ground beef and béchamel sauce and two others I can’t remember. The tomato-based one with the seafood (pescatora) remains my favorite.

The four-cheese pizza we had was super thin and toasty (with a piaya-like crust). *It was really good.* I’ve always been partial to thin crust pizzas. (Parang kung pan pizza, magpapandesal na lang ako, mas masaya pa.)

We were supposed to try the grilled Italian sausage 'swimming in butter' but we were told they ran out of cooked sausages. It would take four hours to cook a new batch! Atras kami.

We capped our three-hour meal with scoops of authentic Italian ice cream (gelato). I tried the blueberry flavor. It was one chunky, fruity scoop. Loved it. My friend experimented with chocolate and blueberry (not the best combination but he seemed happy about it).

Don't let its nondescript facade, canteen-looking interior and affordable prices fool you. This has got to be one of the best (if not the best) Italian places in Manila.

Their Quattro Formaggi pizza is to die for. I still can't pick which of their pasta dishes is the best - love 'em all. And after consuming all those yummy heavy carbs, end your Italian affair with their famous gelato. Don't be afraid to try the Bravisimo selections - they are all worth the extra calories.

After all these, you will surely leave with a full belly and a silly smile of contentment.

of course most of what's on the menu are good. (yes i have tried almost everything.) but i seriously think that considering the amount of people that go there everyday, they can afford to tidy up the place a bit. im not asking for it to look like an expensive italian joint, just want it to be improved enough for people to be able to eat there and not get turned off by the sticky-looking floor. and pleease, just from looking at it from the outside, the place is screaming for a makeover. when i saw the newly opened branch in qc, it always makes it worthy to drive all the way just to enjoy the good amici food.

They serve great pasta, pizza, and desserts. Try their sausage, it's the best. For dessert junkies like me, try their white profiterole, it's perfect. The ambiance can't be helped, it's near the school, but it's clean enough, with enough tables and chairs for the big crowds they handle every day. The food is a bit expensive, but the servings are big anyway. :)

Many years ago, I used to go to confession to a priest in the Legaspi Village vicinity who would treat me to a scoop of tasty gelato.

almost 15 years later, Amici has expanded, still lacked the ambiance but has still the tasty pasta and local ulam... and did we say the gelato was great (but stay away from this flavor that, according to my friend, tasted like cutex)

parking can be a challenge though.
