Manilas most fashionable eatery is a concept restaurant with multi-cuisine open cooking stations. Indoor and outdoor environments blend beautifully in the spacious, natural setting.

spiral offers a wide variety of international dishes, sadly, however, nothing much of the filipino cuisine is showcased except for the native halo-halo. the place has a nice ambiance, the food tastes good. the price , though, is quite prohibitive. other hotels offer cheaper buffets but are nonetheless comparable to spiral's. the hotel staff are not that helpful to customers. while we were taking pictures, no one even offered to serve as cameraman. This is the best buffet I've had in Manila, and matches those that can be found in 5 star hotels in Singapore and Hong Kong. Went there with close business associates. Everyone liked the starters of sashimi, sushi and seafood. The choice of mains and dessert is fantastic too. One of the guys kept going back for countless bowls of laksa noodles. And great value with the one for one offer with the Accor Advantge Plus Card. Spiral, Sofitel Philippine Plaza

I've been to several hotel buffets here in the Metro but it's only in Spiral that really captured my taste. They have the greatest and yummy-est selection of food and it's only them that has birthday pao which I've only eaten in Thailand. The dessert table is the best! I love their mini cakes and their chocolate chip cookies! It is a little too pricey though because a person can only eat too much and I don't think it's worth 1800 unless you have a secret take home ziplock inside your bag. :) Spiral, Sofitel Philippine Plaza

I've already been able to eat buffets at the shangri-la hotels and dusit with my family and sofitel has the worst service!!

Seeing the reviews here, I'm glad I'm not the only one with the bad experience!

Yesterday we ate at sofitel for their lunch buffet. During the course, I asked for more water from a waiter who gave me a look that didn't want to be bothered so I was already thinking he won't give me my water and he didn't! (All this time there were no waiters near us to ask for more water) So when I saw and asked water from him again, he didn't even have an apologetic face that he forgot. I saw him grab a pitcher of water then went to our table, gave my dad water (NOT EVEN ME! who has been asking for water twice!) then the other table beside us asked for water and the waiter went to their side and gave TWO of them the water they needed and ignored our table completely! (we were a table of 7) so I went straight to him and told him off and guess what his reason was?? "Sorry but the other table asked for water and I ran out" that really pissed me off. I WAS THE FIRST ONE TO ASK FOR WATER AND HE GIVES OUR WATER TO THE TABLE BESIDE US!

The waiter didn't have a nameplate (which was odd) so I didn't get his name but he's the only one there with a big beer belly.

The food was not even exceptionally great (dusit cross-over buffet is better), they're the farthest hotel from where I live and the most expensive buffet than the other buffet hotels.

Better value in other hotel buffets

I wasn't too impressed, true there is a LOT of choices, but the price of over 2K for a meal, you can get better value in other buffets, like Paseo Uno in Mandarin. True, it doesn't have as much choices, but if you will just be sticking to the Prime Rib, seafood, sashimi stations and an impressive enough array of yummy desserts, then you don't really need to have so many to choose from anyway. Food is good and plentiful, no doubt about it, I'm just saying there's better value to be found elsewhere. Spiral, Sofitel Philippine Plaza

We went to Sofitel yesterday to have breakfast. It was my sister-in-laws birthday. We had breakfast here several times already. We keep coming back because of Sofitel's delicious and wide variety food choices.

Food: I ate too much I cannot remember exactly all the foods that I ate. Will be naming a few that I can remember. On the Chinese food section, their pork siomai, fried rice and the shrimp congee were my favorite. They also have Chinese noodle soup. On the other section, they have hash brown, US bangler, wide variety of breads, pancake, waffle danggit (but it's too salty) ,turon,
fruit juices, fresh milk, soya milk and breakfast cereals. There are lots of fruits for dessert.

Service: Their service crew are very friendly. You don't need to as them to refill your coffee, they will be the one to assist you instead.

Ambiance: Place is good. Nothing bad I can say.

Value: Breakfast cost 1,200. But we have a membership card so we got 50% off.

all because of the lamb. they usually cook the lamb very well. we have had our annual meetings hosted by sofitel the past couple of years and one of the reasons is Spiral. Sometimes the service tends to slow down, but on the whole they have been more than ok.

The usually have one of the best freshly baked chocolate chip cookies around, but generally the deserts are almost always excellent. I usually never get to try the Chinese station because by the time I get there I am beyond full (plus between Beijing duck and Cookies... i go for the cookies).

The Indian section could have more options in it, but I'm generally satisfied with their tandoor selections and dhal.

For the Japanese section, the yakitori is sometimes a miss, but generally everything is ok. And unfortunately I never get to try the lobster or champagne (because I don't get to go on Sundays)...

ok spiral makes us fat. not as bad as it sounds since we eat because well...its a buffet...and we're paying quite a bit for it....not bad but doesnt have haagen daz like marriot jakarta or foie gras like sofitel metropole or lobster like novotel hk and yet still priced the same. but not having much options in terms of hotel buffets, this is where we almost always end up. several of the staff even recognize us already. we went to spiral for christmas dinner. i did not experience the bad service as the other reviewers. maybe they beefed up service for christmas season? in any case, service during our stay was good. water glasses refilled - not instantly - but within appropriate lead time.

this place will delight the glutton in you. it did, in me! i've heard a lot of good things about spiral and it did not disappoint. there are so many stations and so much variety!

i loaded up on the grilled lamb. i'm a lamb fan and i'm always pleasantly surprised when i find restaurants that don't serve stinky, game-y lamb. here it's tender, fresh and flavorful.

i agree with the reviewer to stick to dishes like prime rib, lobster or crab (the table next to us just ate heaping plates of prime rib and lobster!). my husband loaded up on salmon sashimi (his ultimate fave) - for buffet cuisine it was extremely fresh and i think he ate almost half a kilo of it that evening!

try not to load up on "fillers" like bread or pasta so you'll have a chance to sample their desserts. it's really super good.

it is not cheap so if you go to sofitel often, i recommend getting their club card. i think it's P7,000. you get a free night's stay and after that every time you eat, one person gets to eat free (except for larger groups - there's a different computation).

highly recommended for special occasions and for those days when you just want to stuff yourself silly with good food.

the service is B-A-D! the staff were extremely noisy, i could not appreciate the great interiors and the food. i had to get up and call one of them just to order a drink, as they were too busy gossiping in one corner. great food, but doesn't deserve the top buffet ranking given their lousy service.
