We have been 4 times only to the bar, and it is acceptable, but I find a couple of slurps of the self serve wine machine kewl but the price it too much, we manage to drop 2K in an hour, I think they should add some muchies and try to keep folks happy. 200 pesos for 1/8 a glass of wine? this isn't London or Tokyo.Rating

We sampled some starters and again for the price... hmmmm I am not really sure who they cater too, you can get something of equal quality 1/10 of the price up the street.

I had dinner with my business partner and being concious with my butter in take, i opted to ask for olive oil, balsamic vinegar and some cheese. the dinner went well, the tiger prawns were great, the duck breast was a little tough....... an then this is the the intresting part.... when the bill came, I cannot believe CAV,charged me for the olive oil I asked for as an open food. The amount is only 80 pesos but that is not my point. Everyone who goes to CAV can surely afford even up to 8,000 for a meal.
CAV should be offering it's customer better than this.
Lastly, the cheese platter was not finished so we decided to have it for take out, the next morning, the mixed blue cheese came with EXTRA....some foil wrapper was included in the mixture...
guys, you have to have better quality control than that...
i hope you can improve.... other than this, service , wine selction and food is great esp the first courses.

Cav is one of those really nice places where you can just hang out with friends and have quiet conversations while enjoying a tall glass of wine (and yes, the wine vendo was a lot of fun! ^_^). I've been there just once but my mom and I are thinking of dropping by again one of these days.Rating

cav wine & bistro is certainly a wonderful concept wine bar & bistro. the goal is to educate us mere mortals in different kinds of wine - to identify the smells, tastes, etc... (e.g. this wine tastes earthy, and a little acidic, like it was planted next to lemon trees, etc....)Rating

it sounds pretentious, but it's not! i loved the experience. basically you get a card (much like a credit card) that you use to purchase wines by the sip, half glass & full glass. you slide this card into high tech refrigerated dispensers (much like sliding a card into an ATM machine). all the wine bottles are displayed on these dispensers & what's great is you can take sips out of P20K bottles (maybe a whopping P250 a sip! hahaha!). so once you make a selection, you press a button & out comes pouring the silky white wines or rich burgundy red wines (like a high class vending machine).
so each slide your card makes, the wine + price gets recorded on the card for your bill payments after.
it's interiors are very posh with a cafe at the front (more casual) & a more fine dining interior inside. there a circular booth table which seats i think 8 pax & go pretty fast so i highly recommend making reservations.
as for food, the head chef is Markus who hails from Grassi's. there's usually PRIX FIXE menu (fixed price) ranging from P1,000 - P1,500 & you get to choose from 3 or 4 courses (appetizer, entree, dessert, etc).
so you won't burn too big a hole on your pocket or for those who don't drink too much: i suggest you do a wine pairing with the PRIX FIXE menu which costs lesser than getting a card (because i think with the card you'll be tempted to just taste all the wines on the display!). i tried the wine pairing & whoa, it really made a difference to the taste of the food. they completely complimented each other. with the wine pairing, CAV specifically finds the best wine to compliment the dish.
it's not cheap to dine in this restaurant, you can easily spend P1,500-P2,000 per pax. but for wine lovers, special occasions, or for the experience, i highly recommend this place! - Was this review...? Useful | Useless | Bogus
