We were walking around GB5 looking for a place to eat, and we had initially wanted steak. At some point, we decided to go to wherever had a quiet outdoorsy ambience, and so we headed to The Terrace at 5th. At first, the place seemed very plain to me --- not like the obviously upscale, gourmet-ish, almost intimidating interiors of other neighboring restaurants... but upon thorough observation, i realized that the restaurant's design is a classic fusion of quaint and very interesting details. Even the soft spring green "solihiya" pattern of the tabletop caught my eye. I'm very keen on details, and i'd have to say The Terrace's subdued yet classy concept was very nicely executed.

We were served some complimentary dinner rolls with butter -- nothing special here. We then ordered the seafood salad --- very fresh and flavorful, although the fish fillet in it was a tad bit overgrilled. I took a bit of this potato-like wedge (i was on a non-potato diet) in the salad, and to my delight, it was a golden yellow apple wedge, which probably gave the dressing its hint of sweetness, and complemented the dressing perfectly. We also had the prawns thermidore and the grilled US short ribs with red rice and coleslaw, paired with cabernet sauvignon and merlot. the thermidore's sauce slightly overpowered the prawn taste. The short ribs were very moist and tender, but the sauce was a bit overpowering. The ribs even came with an extra dipping bowl of sauce. the creamy coleslaw was okay. the food wasn't exceptional, but it was still good. Service was good, although we weren't given much attention as we were asking for the bill, since everyone was focused on the one waiter who dropped a whole tray of plates.

Instead of having dessert, we ended the night with more glasses of merlot, since it was such a nice night out, and the view was very serene. Overall, i'd say i'd come back to this restaurant more for the salads and the general ambience.
