3 friends and I had coffee at the Trinoma CBTL yesterday. There was just 1 person behind the counter and quite a few customers. Yet she handled all business competently and cheerfully! I wish I had gotten her name so I could let her supervisor know what a great job she's doing!
I always wanted to try this place's food for so long but always kept putting it off bec. was always busy, but this evening after watching a movie, presented itself as an opportunity to visit this place called Zong. I ordered the Yang Chow Fried rice,Spinach Seafood Soup, Sweet and sour pork, Stir fried string beans with minced pork and Classic Fish Fillet in Soy Sauce. I must say the food is very good without costing you an arm and a leg. Special mention to the Fish fillet in Soy sauce. it was the best I've ever tasted and I've tried a lot of versions of this dish. I'M NOT KIDDING. NO MSG. GREAT, PROMPT SERVICE. PLACE IS CLEAN. NO FRILLS. I'VE DEFINITELY FOUND A GEM IN THIS RESTAURANT. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!
We ate at kangaroo Jack to celebrate my father's birthday last week.Their food isn't as unique as I thought. It is just like the smell of the steak of our neighbor(which is undoubtedly delicious). I remembered one of their employees asked me whether how I like my steak to be cooked"Medium-rare, rare or well-done.". I asked for a rare cooked steak but what I ate was well-done almost burnt. The worst part of it is their utensils are hardly dull. I think the only food I have in my plate that it can cut is the vegetables. But it wasn't my treat so why complain. Even their buffet is not in the satisfactory level. All of the food's in the buffet table doesn't jive with it's taste. It's just like what you pay is what you get.
I used to go here for years! The big seller for me is the garlic yoghurt sauce on my Double Chelo Kabab. I used to always ask for extra when I order take out and take some home. You can mix it with any type of beef, and it makes it all good!
Nowadays, the sauce tastes watered down. It is not even remotely close to what it was a few years ago. (Maybe because of the change of ownership?)
Anyway, I go here for nostalgia's sake... nothing else. The keema's still pretty good, although when I got mine, it wasn't hot anymore.
I still recommend this place for anyone looking for a cheap place to eat. There are far better ones around though. The Mister Kabab monopoly on cheap delicious Persian food is gone.
***Check out my review of Shokr Kabab! A hole in the wall haven for good cheap Persian food! :D
i'll make this short, i'm not satisfied with this branch.. the floor, as i entered last june 4, 2011, 9pm, was full of wrappers of their food, table napkins, hankies and towels, chicken bones and rice.. it took me more than 30mins to fall in line and order, the crew who took our orders was very slow and so with the rest of the crew in the counter, they were even chatting and laughing.. AND LASTLY, THE FAUCET IN THE WASH AREA WAS A VERY SMALL, CHEAP LOOKING AND NOT AN APPROPRIATE ONE FOR THAT KIND OF SINK, YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO WASH YOUR HAND PROPERLY WITH IT.. what happened with this branch? where are your standards? pls do something about this...
If you're on a budget and want to try Mediterranean Food, then set a date to check out Mister Kabab at Tomas Morato, Quezon City or head to their other branches in UP-Ayala Technohub and Ortigas. Your Php 100.00 - 250.00 will surely make you one satisfied camper here with a yummy meal, drinks, and perhaps a dessert (depending on the main dish you order). You can choose from several vegetable, beef, lamb, and seafood dishes here. There's also the all-time favorite Shawarma served on a plate as well as Kababs :-)
My personal favorite is their Chicken Korma
paired with their yummy Yogurt Shake
Mister Kabab's Shawarma (on a plate) is pretty good too... Be sure to add hot sauce and garlic sauce!
They also offer other dishes if you're not a big fan of spices...
but what's the use of going to Mister Kabab if you'll be afraid to try their best-sellers right?
Tip: This place gets packed on weekends, especially during the peak hours of dinner... Try to get there early if you're not a fan of loooooong waits.
Will I Go Back?:
> Would love to! Will probably go back on a weekday for lunch... weekend dinners here are way too stressful for me.. haha :-)
Do I Recommend This Place?:
> Yes.. if you want affordable and averagely-good, simple Mediterranean fare, this is the place to try...
> ... an airconditioned restaurant - they have lots of ceiling fans though...
> ... the really fancy, perfectly exotic and strong flavors you find in dishes offered by more expensive Mediterranean restaurants. Remember, the dishes here are pretty affordable, so don't demand fancy-shmansy or really authentic spices in your meal.

The food is so bad...The meat in kare kare taste like double dead meat. Their bagoong for kare kare is not fresh. I wasn't able to eat all the foods that I get... This is the worst restaurant I've ever been
