Not your usual tomato sauce

You'll know it's not Del Monte or Heinz tomato sauce on that pizza on the first bite.

Thin crust, lightly sauced, generously topped with cheese and herbs. You'd know it's definitely Italian. This would be one of the best places to bring your munchkin or honeypie to a date. They have meals set for couples without hurting the wallet of whoever shoulders the bill. Their iced tea is delicious and the waitresses are attentive and always ready to refill the glasses. The place is very homey with lots of pictures framed and hung on both the walls. It is as if Chef Giorgio really wanted to bring his hometown in Italy to Cubao. I really hope I could take my partner (again) and my family here for a lovely dinner sometime.

food was okay. service was bad

I was visiting the Philippines and my brother recommended us to eat at Volare. So we went there with my whole family.

In a nutshell, I can say that while the food was okay, the service that we had was quite unpleasant.

We merely asked for the waitresses to turn down the aircon as it was blowing right at us. My pregnant wife was already shivering. I really asked nicely if they can turn it down a bit or at least make it not point at us. One waitress tried but probably dont know how to adjust it correctly. And she even made it even colder. So I asked again, still nicely. They seemed quite irked with it and was avoiding us the whole time we were there. We didnt feel welcome even though there were not a lot of people around.

The pizza and pasta was cold in seconds and we didnt get to enjoy them as much. To be honest I've had better Italian pizzas/pastas than this. But I guess they're just starting this "authentic italian" thing into the mainstream in Manila (as I can remember there used to be other good Italian restos around some Makati hotels and side streets, but a bit pricier). To be fair, the price was quite good.

Maybe we didnt get the same service as the others here because the owner was not around?

Sorry but I wont be coming back here. We got treated better in Jollibee than here and its supposed to be a family restaurant?

Way better than Amici!

For those of us who are looking for the original recipe of Pasta Montanara of the popular Amici Restaurant, this is the place to go to. Chef Giorgio, formerly connected with Amici di Don Bosco at Pasay Rd Makati, developed Volare's menu to reflect the diversity of the old Amici before it changed ownership. You see, when Amici came under new management, the original menu of numerous Italian possibilities was trimmed down significantly. And we were surprised to find that our old favorite, Pasta Montanara, tasted rather different now at Amici. At Volare, Chef Giorgio retains the goodness of old.

And guess what - one order of pasta will cost you about P250, but it will be enough for two 200-pound guys!
Lots of pizza and pasta varieties, the tiramisu is authentic, the ambience is high-end but the price is very competitive vs Amici or Avenetto.
As a newest treat Volare now serves authentic Italian gelato (gelato is creamier than common ice cream because it has minimal air added).

Family Resto

I was excited when I first saw this Italian resto at Gateway since it would be a new place to eat with my family. I usually order their Shrimp Pasta in garlic oil (I think it's called Amalfe..i'm not so sure). The shrimp is sauteed in anchovies so it's quite tasty, and they have big servings too. Their pizza is good- thin crust with a zillion combinations to choose from. I always see it's owner (I'm assuming he is haha) entertaining friends in the resto. The ambience is warm and fuzzy- great for family dinners or luncheons. Average meal would be at least P250.
