Very disappointing!

2

Encouraged by the glowing reviews on this site, I went to Zuni today and tried out the baked vegetable lasagna.

I don't know what I had.

For one thing, the lasagna had no lasagna. That's right, no pasta at all. Just vegetables. Even worse, they weren't even vegetables you'd usually find in lasagna, but crudely chopped cauliflower, green beans and baby corn. What the hell? The only concession this dish had to "normal" lasagna was the odd spinach leaf here and there. Oh and, bizarrely, some chopped raw onion and tomatoes on top as a garnish. I really did not understand this dish at all.

And there was barely any sauce to speak of, just mostly oil and lots of mozzarella.

I can't believe I shelled out P500 for cauliflower smothered in mozzarella, plus a soda.

So yeah. Not good, and I'm not going there again.

On the plus side, the service was good. The waitstaff were polite and helpful. And the place itself was nice enough. It's just too bad the food I had sucked.

Salad named after comedian Tessie Tomas

It was my first time to try this resto which suggested to me by my niece, the interior doesn't impress me much but still gotta try the food. The plating is all right not so fantastic but what's important is the taste and the price is reasonable. I like the Tessie Tomas Salad that goes with my main course which is the Roasted Norwegian Salmon Fillet. Not sure if I'll come back for more.

Valentine's Day Dinner

4

Came here on Valentine's Day for dinner with my fiancee. Food was great, service was great, ambiance was nice. The food was a bit expensive, but whatever, it was V-Day... it was 5,000p for the two of us as well as the service charge. =P Also, I felt space was a bit cramped inside, I like being further away from the other diners... The service was excellent though... found a bug or something in my fiancee's champagne... pointed it out to the waiter, he took it away right away and came back with a new one... at least I think it was a new one!

I love to eat. And I'm fortunate to share this passion with a friend. She chanced upon it while browsing through the internet and we both decided to try it. And boy! we weren't disappointed.Needless to say, it lived up to the reviews of fellow diners. There will definitely be a next time!

Great, and getting better ...

We visit Manila periodically from Singapore for work and to see my wife's family in QC. Finding a good meal is never a problem in Makati. Finding a great one can be a challenge, unless you are at the Peninsula or Shangri-la, where fine dining usually meets expectations but it comes at a price. By contrast, Zuni delivers the same quality food and excellent service at prices that are closer to TGIF and California Pizza Kitchen. How they do it, I don't know. But they do. Consistently. Our last visit, in early August, we committed to trying other restaurants in Greenbelt 4 and 5. And we did. Felix next door. Sala Bistro nearby. I won't disparage either, except to say we walked out of both disappointed . . . And hungry. We returned to Zuni, where I had grilled Lapu-Lapu. I didn't finish the meal because I had bread at Felix and soup at Sala Bistro. But the chef came out to inquire why. Then the manager returned to say they found a bone on the side of my plate and, figuring that was what arrested my appetite, they would remove the item from my bill! I asked my wife to pinch me. "Did I just dream this?" I insisted that the item remain on the bill, that it was fantastic, as usual. They poured us complimentary Veuve Clicquot instead. And brought us souffles. We've been visiting Zuni since it opened in 2007. For a combination of value, service, location and high-quality food, it's our favorite restaurant in Asia. And we've lived here 17 years.

excellent! leave room for dessert

I had dinner with some business guests last week and I must say that Zuni delivered quite well. The Carpaccio and Foie Gras Salad was quite good and the Wagyu Steaks were cooked to perfection. The wine selection was decent.

What surprised me was the fact that the chocolate souffle was really good. Great value for money. My guests were equally pleased with their chocolate dessert which the staff said was a signature dish of theirs.

One fly in the ointment though, the service was a bit slow that night. Nonetheless, the advice our waiter gave for the food was spot on, even though the food came a bit too late for my liking.

Overall, a good place to dine.

Very good and still getting better

Why the name of a Native American Pueblo Tribe for a Restaurant in Greenbelt Makati ? I still don't know and I forgot to ask the Manager, who greeted us warmly like regulars the other night (well, we have dined there a few times already). The menu was even more attractive than previously. I love their seared tuna with sesame seeds and love their salsa. On different occasions, I tried their beef, fish, chicken, and have never been disappointed. They also have delicious desserts. It's the same management as DUO in Serendra , which we like but we still prefer ZUNI - for its very pleasant location and even for the food. Not too loud easy jazz in the background, very able and friendly waiters. Who could ask for more ? I hope that they will keep on improving & remain the best among the best.

Excellent Food and Service

I'm a steak person, so the first time I went there, I immediately went for the ribeye. The meat was superb. It was cooked with just enough flavor so that you can still taste the juices from the meat. Dessert was also great, I had tiramisu and partnered it with their brewed coffee.. Wow, was I in heaven?

Waiters were very courteous and alert. You did not have to vigorously wave your hand or raise your voice to get there attention. They knew what they were doing.

Zuni is really a "must try" and "will return" dining place
